Prescription Policy
How we handle prescriptions for Schedule H, H1 and X medicines
Drugs OK is a licensed pharmacy and dispenses prescription medicines strictly in accordance with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945 and the Pharmacy Act, 1948. This policy explains when a prescription is required and how to upload it.
1. When a Prescription is Required
- A valid prescription is mandatory for all Schedule H, Schedule H1 and Schedule X drugs.
- Products that require a prescription are clearly marked with an "Rx — Prescription Required" tag on the product page.
- Over-the-counter (OTC) products, health supplements, devices and personal-care items do not require a prescription.
2. What is a Valid Prescription
- Issued and signed by a Registered Medical Practitioner (RMP) holding a valid registration number.
- Clearly shows the patient's name, the doctor's name & registration number, the date, and the medicines with dosage.
- Legible and unaltered. We may reject prescriptions that appear edited, expired or unclear.
- Upload a clear photo or scan (JPG, PNG or PDF). Self-prescriptions are not accepted.
3. How to Upload Your Prescription
- Add the prescription medicine to your cart and proceed to checkout.
- Upload a photo/scan of your prescription when prompted, or email it to enquiry@drugsok.com with your Order ID.
- Our registered pharmacist verifies the prescription before the order is dispensed.
- If anything is unclear, our team will call you on your registered number.
4. Pharmacist Verification
Every prescription order is reviewed by our qualified pharmacist. We reserve the right to:
- Dispense only the quantity that matches the prescribed dosage and duration.
- Hold or cancel an order where the prescription is missing, invalid or suspicious (a full refund is issued for cancellations).
- Decline to dispense Schedule X and other habit-forming drugs that do not meet regulatory conditions.
5. Storage & Privacy of Prescriptions
- Uploaded prescriptions are stored securely and used only for dispensing and statutory record-keeping.
- Records are retained for the period required under the Drugs & Cosmetics Rules.
- Your prescription data is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Refills
For ongoing/chronic medication, a fresh or repeat prescription may be required as per your doctor's advice. We may send refill reminders, but a valid prescription is still required for each Schedule H/H1/X dispensing.
